How to Manage Drivers & Devices on Your Computer

1. Open Device Manager

Device Manager lets you view and control all hardware connected to your computer.

  • Right-click the Start Menu

  • Select Device Manager
    Here you will see categories like printers, display adapters, sound devices, network, and more.


2. Update Device Drivers

Updating drivers helps fix errors, improve performance, and maintain compatibility.

  • Open Device Manager

  • Expand the device category (Example: Printers, Network adapters)

  • Right-click the device

  • Select Update Driver

  • Choose Search automatically for drivers

Your PC will check for the latest driver and install it.


3. Install Drivers Manually

Sometimes you need to install drivers from the manufacturer.

  • Visit the official website of your device (printer, keyboard, mouse, etc.)

  • Download the latest driver compatible with your Windows version

  • Open the downloaded file

  • Follow the installation steps

4. Fix Device Problems

If a device is not working correctly:

  • Open Device Manager

  • Look for yellow warning icons

  • Right-click the device → select Properties

  • Read the error message

  • Update, reinstall, or roll back the driver to fix the issue


5. Reinstall a Driver

  • Select Uninstall Device

  • Restart your computer

  • Windows will detect the device automatically

  • It will install the necessary drivers
    If installation fails, manually download the driver from the official website.
